Multiple full-time or part-time positions are available with flexible start dates in Summer 2025 through Fall 2026. The open positions are at the Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor level on the clinical and Professor of Clinical Practice faculty tracks.

We are accepting online applications starting September 11th, 2024.
To facilitate timely scheduling of interviews, we encourage submitting your application by October 11th or as soon as possible. Applications after October 11th are welcome. Interviews will be scheduled as promptly as possible October through January, depending on available open positions. The recruitment committee will review applications in the order received.
Who should apply
Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and board certification* in Internal Medicine (or foreign equivalent). Applicants must hold or be eligible for Washington State Medical License.
*Note: Board certification in Internal Medicine must be completed within two years after residency.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Only full-time positions (100% FTE) are eligible for H-1B and permanent residence sponsorship. Employer based permanent residence sponsorship is offered in the Clinical Practice track. University sponsorship is not possible for a J-1 visa.
For VAPSHCS applicants: Applicants must be U.S. Citizens (permanent residents may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
How to apply
There are two faculty track options: Professor of Clinical Practice (CP) and Clinical (FTCF). Please do not apply to both listings – choose the one that best fits your interests. During the interview process, if it is determined that you are better suited for the alternate track, you will be able to resubmit your application to the appropriate listing.
Professor of Clinical Practice: Those interested in providing excellent clinical care, traditional ward teaching with residents, and have interest in pursuing projects in QI, EDI, mentorship, scholarship and/or leadership may be most appropriate for this track, especially those candidates most interested in our resident teaching sites (Harborview, Montlake, and the VA). Information about the positions and application instructions can be found at http://apply.interfolio.com/153023.
Full-Time Clinical Faculty: Those most interested in providing excellent direct clinical care without routine work with residents may be most appropriate for this track, especially those candidates most interested in UWMC Northwest. Teaching and non-clinical opportunities are still available for those interested. Information about the positions and application instructions can be found at http://apply.interfolio.com/152976.

If the VAPSHCS is selected, please provide citizenship status; only U.S. citizens or nationals may be appointed to competitive Federal jobs.) - Current institution and experience form

Current position: Resident (R3), chief resident (R4), fellow, hospitalist*, other/attending physician (If currently a hospitalist or attending physician, specify years of experience [1–2 years, 3–5 years, or 6+ years].)
*Note regarding timeline of job offers: In past years, GIM has typically extended job offers in January and February, although we may continue recruitment beyond then. The number of job openings and timing of offers depends in part on whether existing faculty change clinical commitments and the decisions of other candidates. Due to uncertainty about those factors, GIM is unable to specify an exact response date, but welcome ongoing communication with applicants.
