Year 2 Residents
Christopher Alawode, DO, MS
Dr. Christopher Alawode grew up in Rancho Cucamonga, California and completed his undergraduate studies at University of California, Riverside in Neuroscience. He completed graduate work at the University of Southern California in Global Medicine due to a minor interest in public/global health as well as business. He was the co-founder of a business selling scrubs and other medical supplies during his undergraduate and graduate years.
While in medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, he was vice-president of the LGBTQ+ Students Organized for Health and on the leadership team for the Student Interest Group in Neurology. Dr. Alawode completed two years of training in Neurology prior to joining the OEM residency at the University of Washington. His fields of medical interest are traumatic brain injury/concussion, workplace injury and occupational hazards, fitness for work, as well as public/global health. Dr. Alawode also enjoys watching the NBA (basketball), working out at the gym, cooking, playing video games, listening to podcasts or spending time with family and his friends.
Brittany Millard-Hasting, MD, MPH
Dr. Brittany Millard-Hasting grew up in Portland and Eugene, Oregon. She completed her undergraduate studies in Anthropology at the University of Oregon before attending medical school at Oregon Health and Science University. She received training in general practice and radiology during her time in the United States Air Force. After completing her service, she served as medical director for substance abuse treatment facilities while completing her European board certification in Sexual Medicine. Dr. M-H joined the University of Washington Occupational and Environmental Medicine Residency because she loves the creative problem solving and analytic process of caring for the injured worker. Her interests include policy and system development, working with marginalized populations and team based care.
Outside of work, Dr. M-H spends time with her family and friends, cooking, eating, playing board and video games. She loves art, crafting and trying new things. She hopes to keep learning something every day she is given the privilege of living.
Balaji Sridhar, MD, PhD
Dr. Balaji Sridhar hails from Denver, Colorado. He completed undergraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, majoring in Chemical and Biological Engineering. Inspired by how biomaterials could be used to improve medical treatment options, he attended the University of Colorado to complete the Medical Scientist Training Program graduating with both a PhD in Chemical Engineering and an MD. Dr. Sridhar's clinical background includes Internal Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from the University of Colorado.
Dr. Sridhar interests are in the various musculoskeletal pathologies that workers encounter (particularly in manual labor) and he aspires to find better preventative options and treatment modalities for these patients. In particular, he is intrigued by the field of regenerative medicine and how it can be improved to deliver successful treatment options.
Dr. Sridhar is an avid squash and basketball player. He also enjoys learning about and developing innovations at the interface between technology and medicine. He enjoys hiking having grown up in Colorado. He has skied in the Rockies and would like to explore the options in the Pacific Northwest and Canada. Additionally, Dr. Sridhar looks forward to checking out the great restaurants and locales of the Pacific Northwest.
YEAR 1 REsidents
Ali Khan, MD
Dr. Ali Khan grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Rochester, double majoring in Biochemistry and English. Dr. Khan also completed a tuition-waived fifth year immersion program in mental and behavioral health. While attending medical school at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, he discovered a passion for Occupational and Environmental Medicine (OEM) and the ability to have one foot in the practice of clinical medicine and another in work that focuses on public health, working with veterans, advocating on behalf of the environment. Dr. Khan foresees a career in Academic Medicine and always championing future medical students and residents. He completed a prelim year in Internal Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) and Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center before joining the wonderful OEM residency and MPH program at the University of Washington. Outside of work, he enjoys swimming, improv, and writing.
