Mission Statement
Our mission is to establish and support a new cadre of addiction medicine doctors who provide compassionate, patient-centered, and effective treatment for individuals with substance use disorders.
Our vision is to reduce mortality and morbidity from substance use disorders throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond while also eliminating the stigmatization of individuals who use drugs. Our program focus is to educate physicians broadly on the skills, knowledge, and attitudes essential to the integration of addiction treatment into primary care practice and addiction treatment continuity during transitions of care from the ED/inpatient to outpatient setting.
Our fellowship aims to train physicians from all backgrounds and experiences, fostering the collaboration of diverse ideas and perspectives. Through inclusive professional development, policy, and practice, we encourage trainees to address and work toward reducing bias in the healthcare system while committing to equitable care for a diverse patient population.
Applications will open in July 2026 for the AY 2027-2028 cohort starting July 1, 2027.
Program Aims
- To produce a diverse group of compassionate physicians who will provide evidence-based patient care in the field of Addiction Medicine.
- To create a comprehensive learning environment that will prepare trainees for a variety of experiences in Addiction Medicine.
- To provide a supportive group of faculty members who will introduce trainees to various learning opportunities in Addiction Medicine.
