Hospital Medicine Faculty provide local, regional, and national leadership in the following areas:

  • medical education
  • enhancing the quality, safety, and efficiency of care delivery
  • promoting optimal patient care experiences
  • care coordination
  • information technology

Exceptional Inpatient care

We provide exceptional general internal medicine patient care, teaching, and research focused on the inpatient care environment. The Program covers three clinical sites: Harborview Medical CenterUW Medical Center – MontlakeUW Medical Center – Northwest, and the VA Puget Sound Health Care System.

Clinical activities include primary general internal medicine care of hospitalized patients as well as a variety of medicine consultative services.

A robust Faculty Development Program provides high-quality educational sessions that advance Hospital Medicine Faculty and Trainee knowledge and skills. Our Academic Research Coach program ensures that faculty at all career stages have advice from a dedicated and experienced senior healthcare scientist to design, execute, and publish a successful research, education, or quality improvement project. A core commitment to academic medicine, the pursuit of excellence, innovation, and professionalism run across this broad array of activities.
