Hospital Medicine Faculty provide local, regional, and national leadership in the following areas:

medical education
enhancing the quality, safety, and efficiency of care delivery
promoting optimal patient care experiences
care coordination
information technology

Exceptional Inpatient care

We provide exceptional general internal medicine patient care, teaching, and research focused on the inpatient care environment. The Program covers three clinical sites: Harborview Medical Center, UW Medical Center – Montlake, UW Medical Center – Northwest, and the VA Puget Sound Health Care System.

Clinical activities include primary general internal medicine care of hospitalized patients as well as a variety of medicine consultative services.

A robust Faculty Development Program provides high-quality educational sessions that advance Hospital Medicine Faculty and Trainee knowledge and skills. Our Academic Research Coach program ensures that faculty at all career stages have advice from a dedicated and experienced senior healthcare scientist to design, execute, and publish a successful research, education, or quality improvement project. A core commitment to academic medicine, the pursuit of excellence, innovation, and professionalism run across this broad array of activities.
