Dr. Thomas Gallagher was inducted as the 40th president of the Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) at the society’s annual meeting in April. SGIM is an international association of over 3,500 of the world’s leading academic general internists, who are dedicated to improving access to care for vulnerable populations, eliminating health care disparities and enhancing medical education. Dr. Gallagher will volunteer for one year as president, followed by a year of service as immediate past president.
Dr. Gallagher is a professor of medicine, a professor of bioethics and humanities, the associate chair of the department of Patient Care Quality Improvement, Safety and Value, and the director of the UW Medicine Center for Scholarship in Patient Care Quality and Safety.
