In recent months, several members of the GIM faculty have received awards and honors recognizing their achievements and quality of care and instruction.

  • Drs. Brandon Fainstad, clinical instructor, and Meghaan Walsh, clinical instructor, were among the recipients of the Spring 2017 Harborview Cares awards. The Cares Award is UW Medicine's highest honor and recognizes staff, providers, and teams who embody our service culture guidelines.
  • Margaret Isaac, associate professor, was one of two honorees selected by the Class of 2017 as the recipients of the Clinical Distinguished Teacher Awards.
  • Dr. Genevieve Pagalilauan, associate professor, was selected by UW School of Medicine students as the 2017 UW nominee for the Arnold P. Gold Humanism in Medicine Award. This is a national teaching award presented by the AAMC Organization of Student Representatives to one clinical faculty member at a US medical school who exemplifies positive mentoring, student collaboration, and teaching compassionate, patient-centered care. All accredited medical schools in the United States may nominate one physician faculty member. The national award recipient will be announced and honored during the 2017 Annual Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts, in November.
