Dr. Bruce Psaty, professor, has been invited to advise the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) on research priorities and scientific opportunities. As part of the Board of External Experts (BEE), Dr. Psaty will call on his decades of expertise in hematology and stem cell research.

The organization describes itself as “a working group of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Advisory Council … charged with ensuring that the NHLBI’s research priorities remain dynamic and responsive to the evolving scientific landscape and emerging opportunities. BEE members serve as a source of strategic input, discussing and prioritizing program ideas and potential initiatives, and serving as an incubator for new ideas and recommendations for the Institute's business operations, among other tasks. Thanks to the contributions of the BEE in the last few years, the NHLBI embarked on an unprecedented effort to establish its Strategic Vision, a set of priorities to guide Institute-initiated activities for the next decade.”

The Board meets twice every year in Bethesda, Maryland.
